Astraboy goes for his PPL, Lesson 1...
Thursday 8th May is one day I will not forget for quite some time, as this was the first time I would be sat in the coveted left seat taking my first steps in becoming a real world pilot.
Dave Wood was my instructor on the day and will be throughout the full course, before any flying could begin Dave took me into the training room and gave me a brief run down on the the basics of flight and the effects across the aircraft surfaces while in flight. Things discussed were Yaw, Roll and Pitch along with angle of attack.
Tatenhill is a small airfield in the UK based in the beauiful countryside of Staffordshire. Apart from being a PPL heaven and home to the East Staffordshire Flying Club it also the base for the Staffordshire Air Ambulance.
Below are a few images taken on the day...

Back to the lesson! We departed out of Tatenhill and climbed to 5,000 feet. From the ground the skies were blue but the higher we got the conditions became hazy but the air was smooth which meant it was perfect for the practice manoeuvers. Dave took me through the differing exercises and my simple job was to replicate them (no pressure then)
The time flew (pardon the pun) and before I realised we were heading back to the airfield. I had control on the decent before Dave brought us in to land.
Below are a few more images and a short movie of us taking off and returning to park up.
